Library Instruction
Goals
- To build capacity in the specific skills needed to use information retrieval tools for evidence informed practice
- To increase knowledge and awareness of evidence informed practice approaches
Orientations
- A brief overview that can be offered as part of staff onboarding or a general refresher for all staff
- Planned as an activity embedded within yearly or regular team meetings
- Provided at the request of anyone interested in library services for themselves or their staff
- Can be 1-1 or to groups, via MS Teams or in-person
Customized / Just-In-Time Training
- Meets a specific need for a specific team or role
- Booked within a time frame that supports an upcoming project deadline, or a workgroup meeting where skills training or information sharing on library services is complementary to planned actions
- Can focus on a specific database, topic, or general overview on research basics
- Can be 1-1 or to groups, via MS Teams or in-person
Literature Search Consultation
- For staff who are planning to or have already submitted a literature search request
- Overview of how to develop a research question and refine focus
- Information on selecting appropriate resources and how to conduct a mediated search
- Demonstration of citation management tools available to track and share research articles with staff or collaborators

- Desired format (virtual or in-person)
- Length of session (30-60 minutes)
- Suggested dates of session (subject to librarian availability)
